The Web PIM recap - December 2, 1998
hey folks,
at the December PIM I think we finally did it: a PIM at which the number of
women equalled the number of men!
for any of you counting (okay, me), we always had a lot more MEN at the
PIMs even though it was an event hosted and supported by WOMEN. go figger.
finally, the tides turned at 850 Montgomery last night. my sincerest thanks
to all the women who turned out -- total count easily over a hundred folks
over the course of the evening, and on a rainy night at that.
lots of great networking at the event: folks from SF Station, Online Focus,
Quokka Sports, Whistle Communications, Preview Travel and a whole lot more.
and to those of you who wore red as requested: molto grazie! WoW
newsletter maven Joyce Slaton was resplendent in red from head to toe
(including a clever "ruby" tiara), "reading list" woman Leah Roderman made
the scene, steering crewers annabanana and Cyd Harrell were in attendance
as were WoWers Kai Haley (logo goddess), Karen Solomon (Top 25
ubergoddess), Laura Stanford of ProSeSports (chatting up the Quokka guys),
Mary Chow (more red head to toe), Miranda Pearce, Susan Stearman, Stannie
Holt (red again)...yeah, lots of great women. WoW supporters Craig Newmark
(List Foundation), Brian Zisk (SanFranZiskGo) and Gil Silberman (Britton &
Silberman attys.) were also on hand as were many other men and women
schmoozing for success!
many thanks to Valon and Martin, owner/barmen at 850 Montgomery, who did a
great job pouring drinks and slinging some tasty hash (okay, tapas). this
is a great bar/restaurant, so I hope that many of you will check it out on
non-PIM nights as well! look for another PIM at this same location sometime
in January...
