The Web PIM recap - November 14, 2000
hey all,
well, another cool PIM last night. and speaking of cool, most frequently asked question of the night was "where can I put my coat?" San Francisco establishments are def not ready for chilly weather. that said, Jillian's was warm and cozy, people were mingling and trading cards and all was well with the world, President or no.
kudos to Mixer Manager Suzanne Anderson of
<http://www.artistone.com/>
for helping make folks feel welcome and to WoW volunteer Cath Bowen and the other lovely ladies greeting at the door. more kudos go to the PIM's sponsors: uClick
<http://www.uclick.com/>,
with local rep Debbie Aron handing out handy screen savers filled with fun content (think Doonesbury and Garfield) ready for syndication; dot com lawyers Sheppard Mullin <http://www.smrh.com/>,
ever affable and ready to help you seal your next big deal (unless it's a recount, in which case they'll refer you); and Site59
<http://www.site59.com/>,
which raffled off a weekend in Santa Monica won by WoWser Linda Duffy in her first-ever PIM appearance. talk about beginner's luck!
okay, so who else was at the PIM...P.J. Gupta, founder of
<http://www.messagerunner.com/>,
talked about his ASP for Microsoft Exchange...Ryan Erving of CommsPeople
<http://www.comms.com/>
says his firm is *the* place for hot tech talent...Johanna Leetsma is the local presence for <http://www.trippdesign.com/>,
the place to go for naming, positioning and corp. identity services for your dot com...Paul Andreini is the "King of Print" at Oracle <pandrein@us.oracle.com> although he's trolling for a new design gig (let's not tell Larry)...Lara Hutner of the Sheppard Mullin law firm was working the room with not one but two drinks in hand (harmless, tho, as she was helping a friend with her coat)...longtime WoWsers Stannie Holt (analyst at the Yankee Group) and Jillian Steinberger (superanalytical hottie at MarchFirst) both made the PIM scene, as did former Klatch Goddess Rach Sinclair...Charleston Pierce of talent firm
<http://www.HallKinion.com/>
was also in the crowd and told some folks he was a model in the Macy's Passport show, which came as no surprise...Tania Willner, local rep for travel site
<http://www.site59.com/>
had her posse of baby-T clad girls workin' the room (ladies, see previous entry)...Linnette Jones of ad network
<http://www.valueclick.com/>
kept her long black coat on as she sashayed about the room...always-on-the-scene Brian Zisk has left iCast to focus on the Future of Music Coalition
<http://www.futureofmusic.org/>,
an attempt to help musicians get their fair share...SF WoW Steering Crew member and PR pro Nancy MacGregor <nancy@realtime-comm.com> was in town long enough to hit the PIM (Nancy also ran the NY Marathon two weeks ago...go, girl!)...Greg Brooks of Prestige International <gbrooks@prestigein.com> is new in town from Sydney, Australia and looking to make some good contacts for his "global contact center" -- why build your own call center when you can use his?...Jim Li and Paul Ozzello, late of
<http://www.whistle.com/>,
now owned by IBM, were hatching new ventures in hushed tones...WoW volunteer Teri Gardella of <http://www.ninthhouse.com/>
left the engineers back at the office and snuck out to the PIM...Jonathan Korman of <http://www.cooper.com/>
is anxiously awaiting the opening of the firm's SF offices...new SF WoW pointwoman Lara Thurman of <http://www.creativeassets.com/>
is busily planning the org's Top 25 Women on the Web Awards, tentatively schedule for April, 2001...and a whole lot more folks we won't even name.
okay, so if you missed last night's PIM and weren't at Comdex, what's your excuse? fear not, you'll get another chance -- next PIM will be happening around February, 2001. lastly, PIM pix are already live at
<http://www.webpim.org/>
-- simply go to "PIM Pix" and click on November 14.
